During the third quarter of 2024, the communication app landscape in Madagascar showcased interesting trends across the top five apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. observed fluctuating weekly downloads, peaking at around 16.1K in mid-August, before tapering to approximately 12.5K by the end of September. The app maintained a robust user base, with weekly active users gradually increasing from 786K to about 854K over the quarter.

WhatsApp Messenger also experienced a growth in weekly active users, starting at 3.0M and reaching over 3.1M by quarter's end. The download numbers showed a similar upward trajectory, culminating in a notable spike to 17.3K in the final week of September.
